Google Chrome Browser

Google although they are the biggest sponsors of Mozilla Firefox project, they just just done an announcement of that they’re working in a browser based on WebKit (Based on KHTML, used in Safari) and will be open source. They wrote from scratch the Javascript engine, named V8. The name of this browser is Google Chrome and the beta should be released tomorrow for Windows although the announcement says that they’re working hard on Apple Mac OS X and Linux versions.

Some nice features I found in this browser, due to the information given by Google can easily be:

  1. Tabbed browsing, I still should consider it as a feature? Now a days is a NEED TO HAVE feature in all the browsers. Anyway, I’ll add it here.
  2. Process Manager, it will manage all the tabs, because, each tab will have they’re _OWN_ process, this means, that when you close a tab, there will not be a lack of memory, it will kill the whole process. This will beat EASILY Firefox excessive memory use, that is less and less per version, but still excessive.
  3. Based on WebKit that is based in KHTML, the engine made by KDE Team, and the one that my favorite browser uses, Konqueror, with many new things by Apple of course.
  4. V8 Javascript Engine, I don’t know how good it could be, but I expect many of this, like, running smoothly all Google web applications.
  5. Open Source!.
  6. Opera Dial-Up alike – Although I would prefered iGoogle as home, but anyway, will look nice.
  7. Let’s wait for tomorrow for this one.

Hoping to test it tomorrow and I will post some screenshots and put them here, really, I spect a very good performance on Javascript with V8 since the current engines are a crap by now. By now I will add a new category named Google since they always give us great surprices that are worth to post them here.
